The August survey comprises email responses from 1,020 Medicare beneficiaries who purchased a Medicare insurance plan through an eHealth website.
Most respondents said drug price limits are crucial to maintaining the future of the Medicare program. A majority (56 percent) of respondents said they can’t see Medicare operating beyond their own generation, while about a quarter said they expect the program to extend another generation or two.
Notably, 87 percent of respondents said healthcare and insurance issues are either their No. 1 or within their top three issues determining how they will vote in the upcoming midterm elections. Less than a third of respondents support a “Medicare for All” proposal.
