So far, 457 women in the U.S. have been diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma tied to breast implants. Nine of those patients have died from the rare cancer. Women with breast implants have an increased risk of developing it.
Since September, the FDA has received 660 medical device reports regarding cancer linked to breast implants.
“We hope that this information prompts providers and patients to have important, informed conversations about breast implants,” the FDA said.
