Under the agreement, ISMP would operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of ECRI Institute. Together, the nonprofit organizations will work to make medication, medical devices and healthcare organizations safer for patients.
ISMP’s president, Michael Cohen, and executive vice president, Allen Vaida, PharmD, will continue to lead the organization. Three leaders from ECRI Institute, including CEO Marcus Schabacker, MD, PhD, will also join ISMP’s board of trustees.
The transaction is expected to close Jan. 2, 2020.
