Saginaw, Mich.-based Covenant HealthCare and Detroit-based Henry Ford Health have launched a clinical affiliation to expand access to complex neurological care in Saginaw, effective April 1.
The partnership will create a joint program, Covenant HealthCare in partnership with Henry Ford Health Neurosciences, that will focus on neurosurgery and spine care, stroke, neurology and neuro-oncology, according to a March 10 news release shared with Becker’s.
Henry Ford neurosciences clinicians will work with Covenant providers to treat patients at Covenant facilities in the Saginaw area and through virtual care via Henry Ford’s specialty center in Saginaw. The affiliation formalizes a longstanding referral relationship between the organizations and is designed to allow more patients to receive advanced specialty care closer to home.
Covenant HealthCare sees 15,500 neuroscience patient visits annually and referred many of its complex neurology cases to Henry Ford Health. Some of those appointments will be handled locally through the affiliation.
The parties also plan to build a joint neurosciences outpatient facility on Covenant’s Mackinaw Campus in Saginaw Township. Henry Ford clinicians will integrate into Covenant’s neurosciences program later in 2026.
“Our two organizations have a long history of collaboration,” Beth Charlton, president and CEO, Covenant HealthCare, said in the release. “This partnership allows us to build on the strength of our existing neurosciences program by leveraging Henry Ford Health’s specialized expertise. By working together, we can provide more coordinated care for our patients and have the ability to treat even more complex neurological cases in Saginaw.”
