Four things to know:
1. In the past 72 hours, health officials recorded 37 Ebola cases and 29 deaths.
2. In total, the outbreak has caused 1,154 confirmed and probable Ebola infections, along with 731 deaths as of April 8. Another 248 suspected cases are under investigation, and 350 people were healed.
3. Nineteen of the new cases occurred in the city of Katwa, which has been a major hot spot for the outbreak since January.
4. The neighboring country of Rwanda will vaccinate 8,000 health workers against Ebola starting April 15, the World Health Organization tweeted April 5. Uganda and South Sudan have already started precautionary vaccination efforts in case the virus spreads across Congo’s border.
