For the week of Dec. 13-19, the CDC reported outpatient visits for influenza-like illnesses in the U.S. reached 2.2 percent, one-tenth of a percentage point above the national baseline of 2.1 percent for the same week in previous years.
The proportion of deaths attributed to pneumonia and influenza for the same week was below the epidemic threshold, although one influenza-associated pediatric death was reported, bring the flu season’s total to four.
