Currently, there are 52 confirmed cases of the infection and a total of 59 reported cases. Most of those infected are over the age of 65. There have been 17 deaths with confirmed infections and one death related to a possible infection in Wisconsin. There has also been an additional fatality related to a confirmed infection reported in Michigan.
The CDC has assisted the WDHS with testing samples from potential infection sources like healthcare products and water sources. The cause of the outbreak remains unknown.
