Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Cancer Center-Lexington is beginning a $2.7 million expansion of its hematology oncology clinic and infusion center, The Dispatch reported June 10.

The expansion will help the cancer center, which opened in 2008, meeting growing care demands among the Lexington, N.C., community.

“We saw over 500 new patients last year, and we keep growing,” Chad Brown, president of the south and west markets of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, told the publication.

The expansion will add six more infusion chairs, for a total of 13, and three new exam rooms, bringing the total to five. The cancer center will also add an on-site diagnostics lab, expanded waiting room and new conference room equipped with technology to support clinicians’ participation in regional tumor boards.

Construction is set to begin by the end of June and be completed in early 2026. The center will remain open throughout the project.
