IIPW is a time for infection preventionists to raise awareness of the key role infection prevention plays in enhancing and ensuring patient safety. The theme of this year’s IIPW is “Protecting Patients Everywhere.”
The organization is releasing resources to help APIC members plan and execute a successful International Infection Prevention Week, including polls, quizzes and interactive games. APIC created an IIPW 2018 toolkit with public relations material, social media posts to share and ideas for events or activities to help raise awareness about infection prevention.
APIC also created a new infographic showcasing 10 ways to protect patients, including advice for healthcare workers such as “stay home if you are sick.”

On Oct. 16 at 12 p.m. EST, APIC will host a Twitter chat on infection prevention through the continuum of care. Those interested in participating can follow @APIC on Twitter and use “#IIPWChat” to join.
