The AAFP’s guidelines provide recommendations for a broad range of clinical preventive services, including screening, counseling and preventive medications for abdominal aortic aneurysm, cardiovascular disease preventions, depression, diabetes and more.
The Commission on Health of the Public and Science reviews the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force’s recommendations on preventive services and makes its own recommendations to AAFP’s Board of Directors. The AAFP’s final guidelines are based on those recommendations. The AAFP also utilized a rating system to indicate the strength of each recommendation based on medical literature.
