New American Heart Association Accreditation Rewards Top Heart Attack Care

The American Heart Association announced a new accreditation program to recognize hospitals for their heart attack care.

The American Heart Association partnered with the Society of Chest Pain Centers in September 2011 to create the Mission: Lifeline Heart Attack Referring/Receiving Center Accreditation. The program recognizes hospitals that meet standards for diagnosis and treatment of a STEMI heart attack. So far, 10 hospitals across the country have received this recognition.
