The infections all occurred in patients who underwent procedures at Westside Multispecialty Medical Group, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Health. It is still unknown how these patients contracted the virus.

Health officials are encouraging about 500 patients treated at the clinic between January 2016 and December 2018 to be tested for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.

Westside Multispecialty Medical Group voluntarily closed Feb. 25 as health officials investigate the outbreak.
