5 Hospitals Receive AHA NOVA Award for Improving Community Health

Five hospital-led collaborative programs have been recognized for building healthier communities with the American Hospital Association’s 2012 AHA NOVA Awards, according to an AHA News Now report.

The AHA NOVA Award recognizes hospitals and health systems that have implemented collaborative projects for improving community health.

Here are this year’s five winners:

•    Boston Children’s Hospital for its “Fitness in the City” program
•    Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System for its “Puff City” initiative
•    Newark (N.J.) Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey’s “Beth Embraces Wellness” program
•    St. Joseph Health Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, Calif., for its “CARE Network”
•    Shawano Medical Center of ThedaCare in Appleton, Wis., for its Rural Health Initiative
