The Chartis Center for Rural Health announced the lists at the National Rural Health Association’s Rural Health Policy Institute conference, Feb. 11-13 in Washington D.C.
The listings are based on the Hospital Strength Index, which draws from publicly available data to assess rural hospital performance. It uses 50 independent performance indicators relevant to rural hospitals.
This year there are 19 first-time honorees on the critical access hospitals list and 18 first-time award honorees on the rural and community hospitals.
