11 hospitals in Florida with top nurse-patient communication scores

The following hospitals in Florida received top marks on patients' HCAHPS survey in the category of nurse communication.

At least 84 percent of patients at these 11 hospitals responded on their surveys that nurses always communicated well. In Florida, the average is 76 percent, while the national average is 80 percent.

The figures are from CMS' Hospital Compare website and represent HCAHPS scores collected from January 2015 through December 2015.

Note: Hospitals with fewer than 100 completed surveys were excluded from consideration for this list.

1. Mariners Hospital (Tavernier) — 92 percent

2. Larkin Community Hospital (South Miami) — 90 percent

3. Viera Hospital (Melbourne) — 87 percent

4. Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf (Port Saint Joe) — 86 percent

5. Mease Dunedin Hospital — 84 percent

6. Cape Canaveral Hospital (Cocoa Beach) — 84 percent

7. Baptist Medical Center-Nassau (Fernandina Beach) — 84 percent
