10 California Hospitals Fined for Medical Errors

Ten California hospitals have been fined for medical errors that caused patient harm, according to a KPCC report.

Errors ranged from foreign objects left in a patient after surgery to medication overdoses, according to the report. The hospitals have three days to contest the fines, according to the report.

According to the report, the fined hospitals include:
•    Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles
•    UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital in Santa Monica
•    Simi Valley (Calif.) Hospital & Health Care Services
•    California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco
•    St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka
•    California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco
•    Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside
•    Palomar Health in Escondido
•    Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae
•    Fallbrook (Calif.) Hospital
