10 best, worst cities in the United States for skin health

Skin is the largest organ of the human body and plays a major role in protecting humans from infections. Protecting this organ is easier for people living some parts of American than it is for others, according to WalletHub's report "2016's Best & Worst Cities for Your Skin."

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, the annual incidence of skin cancer exceeds that of breast, prostate, lung and colon cancer combined. Skin cancer mortality rates and melanoma incidence rates are just two of the factors WalletHub considered when assessing skin health in cities across the nation. The creators of the report also looked at dermatologists per capita, dermatologist cost, skin care centers per capita, air pollution and smoking rates.

Ultimately, WalletHub found the following 10 cities are the best for skin health.

1. El Paso, Texas
2. San Antonio
3. Austin, Texas
4. Minneapolis
5. Santa Rosa, Calif.
6. Plano, Texas
7. Memphis, Tenn.
8. Dallas
9. Newark, N.J.
10. New York

Alternatively, the following 10 cities are the worst for skin health.

1. Port St. Lucie, Fla.
2. Akron, Ohio
3. Shreveport, La.
4. St. Petersburg, Fla.
5. Cape Coral, Fla.
6. Spokane, Wash.
7. Toledo, Ohio
8. Chattanooga, Tenn.
9. Amarillo, Texas
10. Oxnard, Calif.
