White House unveils new strategy to prevent future pandemics

The Biden administration launched a new global health security strategy April 16 to prepare for future outbreaks, pandemics or biological threats.

As part of this strategy, the U.S. will help 50 countries better prevent, detect and respond to global health security threats through formal partnerships over the next five years. Previously, the U.S. only had formal global health security partnerships with 19 countries.

The Biden administration will also work to sustain political commitment and financing for global health security efforts and build stronger relationships between global health security programs and other health, development and security programs.
