Dayton (Ohio) Children’s Hospital is planning to add a new rehabilitative services building near its main campus.
The one-level facility will house “better-designed therapy spaces to accommodate children living with autism,” according to a March 12 hospital news release. The hospital aims to make services more accessible for children with mobility or sensory challenges with the simplified layout.
“We are seeing more children than ever before, and we are seeing them more regularly,” Terry Weigel, director of rehab services at Dayton Children’s, said in the release. “At the same time, new tools and techniques require more space to use and store. This new building will allow us to continue to provide the above and beyond Dayton Children’s experience for our families and kids.”
The building, which is set to break ground in June, will provide physical, speech and occupational therapy services.
