Nobis has launched a new division focused on partnering with acute care hospitals to develop and operate inpatient rehabilitation programs.
The division, Nobis Rehab Management Group, will provide hospital partners with “operational, clinical and strategic support to deliver intensive hospital-level rehabilitation therapy for patients recovering from debilitating injuries and illnesses,” according to a March 10 system news release. The group’s model will comprise specialized programs for stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury and complex orthopedic conditions; advanced rehabilitation technology to accelerate recovery; interdisciplinary care teams; and private suites and family integration in recovery.
Laird Smithson was named COO of the division. He will oversee the day-to-day operations of the group and support hospital partners. He previously served as senior vice president and division COO for Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare’s hospital rehabilitation services division.
