New Britain, Conn.-based Hospital for Special Care is converting an existing inpatient unit into a dedicated medical rehabilitation unit as part of a $3.6 million renovation.
The unit will have 10 private patient rooms and expanded nursing, clinical and support spaces, according to an Oct. 27 hospital news release shared with Becker’s. The project is expected to be completed around January.
The project will increase the hospital’s capacity to take patients from acute care hospitals who need longer stays and intensive rehabilitation after catastrophic illness or injury, according to the release.
Hospital for Special Care is the fourth largest, free-standing long-term acute care hospital in the U.S, according to the release.
