White Plains, N.Y.-based Burke Rehabilitation Hospital has received a $10,000 pilot grant from the Foundation for Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, aimed at supporting rehabilitation services for individuals living with metastatic cancer.

The Tactile Medical Cancer Rehabilitation Research Award was presented to Sharon Bushi, MD, medical director of care transitions and director of medical student education at the hospital, according to a Nov. 18 news release. The funding is in recognition of Dr. Bushi’s research on rehabilitation services for metastatic cancer patients.

“By improving understanding of [cancer patients’] rehabilitation needs and outcomes, the study aims to help the post-acute care sector better serve this growing and medically complex group,” the release said.

Burke Rehabilitation is a member of New York City-based Montefiore Health System.
