“STEP-it” fitness trackers were offered in each Happy Meal sold in the U.S. and Canada, according to engadget.com. Kids could put the wearables on their wrists and track their steps. The devices would also blink depending on the speed of the child’s motion.
But users quickly began to notice a problem — their skin grew irritated while using the wearable.
Terri Hickey, a McDonald’s representative, said the company is “fully investigating the issue” and “offering [its] youngest guests an alternative Happy Meal toy,” according to CBS News.
The report did not comment on what may have caused the issue.
