Analysts compared healthcare costs, healthcare access and health outcomes of the 50 states and the District of Columbia using a data set of 29 key metric ranges including “out-of-pocket medical spending” and “adult health insurance coverage.”
Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale. Overall scores for each state were calculated using the weighted average across all metrics.
