The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, a unit of the National Institutes of Health, recently removed references to climate "change" from its website, reports Chicago Tribune.
The unit changed headlines that once read "Climate Change and Human Health" to "Climate and Human Health" and altered menu titles like "Climate Change and Children's Health" to "Climate and Children's Health." However, the phrase "climate change" can still be found in the text beneath some of the revised headlines.
Christine Flowers, director of communications for NIEHS, called the changes "minor." "The information we provide remains the same. In fact, it's been expanded," she told Chicago Tribune.
The Environmental Data and Governance Initiative — a network of academics and nonprofits that aim to monitor what it calls "potential threats" to federal energy and environmental policy and scientific research infrastructure — brought the changes to light in a recent report.
