The effort aims to educate physicians, caregivers and patients on how genomic testing of solid tumors during the early stages of a patient’s care plan can help to inform personalized treatments.
The educational initiative will take a case-based approach — based on CTCA’s use of Foundation Medicine’s comprehensive genomic profile platform — describing several cancer patients’ journeys from diagnosis to tumor profiling to treatment.
“As oncologists, we have an obligation to the patients we serve to keep pace with, and, whenever possible, lead the way in the application of the latest diagnostic tools that may help inform treatment decisions,” said Maurie Markman, MD, president of medicine and science at CTCA.
