Boise, Idaho-based St. Luke’s Health System has erected automated medication lockers at supermarkets and other locations to increase access, ABC affiliate KIVI-TV reported April 23.

To enhance access and convenience for patients, six WinCo Foods stores have installed the devices. After a St. Luke’s pharmacy prepares, fills and delivers prescriptions, a message is sent to patients via text or email. At the locker, patients’ scan a code, confirm their birthday and pick up their prescription within 30 seconds, according to the report.

The lockers can stock room-temperature and refrigerated medications while security cameras track each pickup.
