Mather Hospital in Jefferson, N.Y., part of New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health, is launching a pharmacy residency program July 1, expanding its graduate medical education offerings.
The one-year program will train post-graduate pharmacy residents in their first year in areas including pharmacotherapy, medication safety, antibiotic stewardship and regulatory compliance, according to a news release from the hospital. Residents will also work directly with physicians and other clinical teams to manage complex patient cases.
Mather has named its first two residents for the inaugural pharmacy residency class, and the health system’s residency programs now include more than 110 residents across internal medicine, radiology, psychiatry and other specialties.
