Eli Lilly and Nvidia will launch a co-innovation AI lab to accelerate drug discovery.
The companies will jointly invest up to $1 billion over five years to support the lab, which is based in the Bay Area, according to a Jan. 12 Nvidia news release. The initiative combines Lilly’s pharmaceutical development capabilities with Nvidia’s expertise in AI, computing and infrastructure.
The lab will operate on Nvidia’s BioNeMo platform and Vera Rubin architecture, and focus on building a continuous learning system to connect Lilly’s wet labs with computational dry labs for 24/7 AI-assisted experimentation.
Additional goals include scaling medicine production with robotics, creating digital twins of manufacturing lines using Nvidia Omniverse libraries, and applying agentic and multimodal AI across clinical development, manufacturing and commercial operations.
Work at the lab is expected to begin early this year.
