Investigators raided the pharmacy Aug. 8 and issued an immediate suspension order, which blocks the pharmacy from distributing controlled substances.
The DEA claims that the pharmacy unsafely distributed Subtex, a widely abused narcotic often prescribed to help people overcome opioid addiction, according to the report.
U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart said that about 2,000 prescription of Subtex were filled, many from out-of-state physicians. Some people traveled up to 600 miles for the prescriptions and paid in cash, according to the report.
“The red flags were obvious, and when we investigated the red flags and did the initial administrative inspection, it was very clear there were problems,” Mr. Stuart told WSAZ.
