Amgen to cut 172 more jobs

Amgen will cut 172 more jobs across the country, including some from its headquarters in Thousand Oaks, Calif., according to Endpoints News.

The announcement comes a week after Amgen said it would cut 149 jobs, or a quarter of its staff, at its Kendall Square location in Cambridge, Mass.

The cuts will mostly affect operations, research and development, and field-based commercial positions.

The final number of cuts may be lower than 172, as some employees are being offered other jobs within Amgen, according to Endpoints News.

The layoffs are expected to begin Dec. 31.
