Attorneys general from Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, West Virginia and Wisconsin each filed lawsuits May 16, claiming Purdue Pharma made false and deceptive claims to boost sales of its opioid painkiller. The deceptive marketing allegedly fueled the opioid crisis.
Pennsylvania’s attorney general also filed a lawsuit against Purdue Pharma this week.
With the new suits, 45 states are now taking legal action against the OxyContin maker.
