4 recent pharma layoffs

Becker’s Hospital Review has reported the following four drug or biotech company layoffs in the last two weeks. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Drugmaker to shutter New York plant, lay off 56
Geritrex, a private-label drugmaker, will close its production plant in Town of Wallkill, N.Y., resulting in 56 layoffs.

2. Merrimack Pharmaceuticals to lay off remaining staff
Merrimack Pharmaceuticals will lay off its entire staff, including its CEO and CFO, as operations continue to wind down over the next two months.

3. J&J to cut 61 jobs in New Jersey
Johnson & Johnson will cut 61 jobs at its site in New Brunswick, N.J., according to a notice filed with the state.

4. California biotech to cut 82 jobs
Dynavax, a biotech company based in Berkley, Calif., will cut 82 jobs as part of a restructuring plan to prioritize its vaccine business.
