Sutter’s contracts with Health Net and Blue Shield end Dec. 31. If an agreement cannot be reached, patients with the health plans may shoulder higher out-of-network rates to see Sutter physicians.

“We hope to successfully complete these renewals by the end of 2016 to avoid any disruptions in care or the availability of the Sutter Health network,” reads a statement on Sutter’s Palo Alto Medical Foundation’s website.
