Minnetonka, Minn.-based Medica and Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna will compete for consumers on Kansas' government-run insurance exchanges in 2017, repots Star Tribune.
The news comes after Minnetonka-based UnitedHealthcare said it will not offer health plans on the state's exchanges in 2017 as part of a broader pullback to stem the insurer's financial losses. Louisville, Ky.-based Humana will also exit the state's individual ACA exchange next year.
Medica said it will sell policies on Kansas' exchange as well as on its commercial markets, according to the article.
"Health insurance options filed now for the individual market show that competition will likely continue for Kansans' health insurance policies," Ken Selzer, the Kansas Commissioner of Insurance, said in a prepared statement.
