Health insurers in the news: Jan. 14-21

1. Abortion coverage limited in most state ACA marketplaces
More than 30 states have limited availability of abortion coverage in their Affordable Care Act health insurance marketplaces, according to a new Kaiser Family Foundation analysis.

2. Land of Lincoln co-op, University of Chicago Medical Center disaffiliate
Chicago-based Land of Lincoln Health, a health insurance co-op, let go of the University of Chicago Medical Center, according to the Chicago Tribune.

3. Fairview Health Services acquires PreferredOne
Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services purchased Golden Valley, Minn.-based PreferredOne, according to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

4. AHIP: We want UnitedHealth and Aetna back
UnitedHealth left America's Health Insurance Plans last June. Aetna left earlier this year. Now AHIP is doing its best to get the insurers back, according to Bloomberg.

5. UnitedHealth reports strong Q4 revenue
Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealth Group reported strong fourth quarter revenue, which sets up the health insurer for 2016.

6. Man says he refused to leave BCBS of NC headquarters until coverage activated
In midst of the massive Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina system failure, one customer went to the local media with a story about his refusal to back down, according to ABC 11.

7. CarePoint Health, Horizon BCBSNJ terminate contract
Two for-profit hospitals in Hudson County, N.J., are preparing to break in-network ties with the state's largest insurer, according to NJ.com.

8. 9 things to know about the massive BCBS of NC system failure
Recently, Chapel Hill-based Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina has been under fire for technical problems resulting in what company executives are calling the most serious system failure in recent decades.

9. Oscar Health hires 3 new officials
Three new executives joined the team at New York City-based Oscar Health, a young insurance company.
