The attorney representing the appellees tweeted June 25 that the case is scheduled for argument July 13.
Initial attempts to implore the state to expand coverage were denied after a circuit judge ruled the state didn’t have to expand Medicaid under an amendment passed last year, according to the Springfield News-Leader. The paper also reported that attorneys expected the case to be appealed up to the Supreme Court from the get go.
Not only does the Supreme Court’s ruling have the potential to make 275,000 eligible for Medicaid coverage, but it could deem the voter-backed amendment that the circuit court judge based their decision on unconstitutional.
