Health insurer Anthem Blue Cross will administer its self-funded preferred provider plans to University of California faculty, staff and retirees at all the University of California's campuses and medical centers.
More than 80,000 policyholders are expected to receive coverage under the three-year contract. Coverage is effective Jan. 1.
"Anthem Blue Cross is proud to provide UC members and their families access to affordable and quality healthcare, much of which will be from their own high quality system," Brian Ternan, president of Anthem Blue Cross, said. "The University of California and Anthem Blue Cross have been great partners over the years, and we hope to continue the relationship for many years to come."
