AlohaCare names Laura Esslinger CEO

Honolulu-based nonprofit payer AlohaCare appointed Laura Esslinger CEO effective Dec. 1, according to Pacific Business News.

Here are three things to know about Ms. Esslinger.

1. She will replace John McComas, who will retire after acting as AlohaCare’s CEO since 1996.

2. Ms. Esslinger is a seasoned health insurance executive, most recently working as principal of Armstead and Esslinger Health Consultants in Phoenix.  

3. She was a vice president in Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare’s corporate office and held leadership positions in the payer’s Albuquerque, N.M., Phoenix, Nashville, Tenn., and Orlando, Fla. offices.
