950 ProMedica physicians may go out of network with Aetna

Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica Physician Group may leave Aetna's provider network if a contract dispute between the two organizations persists, according to The Blade.

Network changes could disrupt care the group's 950 salaried physicians provide to some 27,000 Aetna members. Beginning Jan. 1, ProMedica physicians will be considered out-of-network for commercial Aetna members, who will be billed 100 percent for any services received if the contract lapses. Aetna's Medicare Advantage members will maintain in-network access to the physicians until June 1.

ProMedica and Aetna are not publicly discussing the sticking points of their contract negotiations. A spokesperson from each organization told The Blade they remain in negotiations and are attempting to resolve the impasse.
