Staffing shortages force Atrium Health to temporarily close 2 urgent care locations

For the first time in three years, two of Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health's urgent care clinics were forced to close April 1 due to staffing shortages, according to The Charlotte Observer.

The urgent care clinics that closed — one in Huntersville, N.C., and the other in Davidson, N.C., — are normally open seven days a week. However, they closed for the entire day April 1.

Atrium attributed the staffing shortages to spring break in the Charlotte area.

"This past week, out of the over 210 shifts to cover, we had five shifts at a few locations that did not have the appropriate staff needed to fully serve our patients, largely due to spring break in the Charlotte area," Atrium said in a statement to The Charlotte Observer.

The two urgent care locations have resumed normal hours of operation.
