Florida hospital to reopen after hurricane damage

After suffering significant damage from Hurricane Michael, Panama City, Fla.-based Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center will reopen inpatient services Nov. 8, according to a WJHG news report.

The 216-bed acute care hospital closed all inpatient services in mid-October following the storm. The emergency department remained open.

Since the storm, Gulf Coast Regional treated more than 360 patients in its ED and transferred about 250 patients, according to a separate WJHG report.

The hospital will reopen in phases. The first phasewill include reopening the hospital's inpatient services, labor and delivery unit, cardiovascular care, surgical services and several ancillary services.
