The Orange County Sherriff’s Department received a call about a gunman inside the hospital just after 2 a.m. When deputies searched the building they found an elderly patient in the hallway holding a gun.
A spokesman for the Orange County Sherriff’s Department said the patient only threatened to harm himself and never pointed the gun at anyone else. The elderly man surrendered without any conflict, according to News6.
Police conducted a room-by-room search and determined the area was safe. The lockdown was lifted and hospital services returned to normal.
