The Eugene, Ore.-based hospital is restricting access as a precautionary measure while police search for the 37-year-old suspect. Patients and visitors must enter the building through one of three designated areas. Sacred Heart is also offering patients and employees security escorts between buildings or to parking garages.

Police said the man left the hospital on foot Sept. 17 and threatened to return. The man “is not known to have weapons but is known for past agitated behavior at the hospital,” according to a statement from the University of Oregon Police Department.

Sacred Heart Medical Center-University District is owned by Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth.
