Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minn., part of Minneapolis-based M Health Fairview, has added 52 single occupancy rooms that will open to patients Oct. 4.

The rooms, meant to offer patients more privacy, are designed to be easily reconfigured to serve both intermediate and intensive care patients. The space will be available for patients receiving orthopedic or spine-related care at the hospital.

Adding more single-occupancy rooms will also enhance infection prevention practices, M Health Fairview said.

The two-story expansion adds about 38,000 feet of space to the hospital and is part of a larger transformation process to improve the patient experience across the health system.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
