Conn. hospital seeks to improve patient experience with luxury suites for families

In November, Stamford (Conn.) Hospital will offer families of patients “signature suites” adjoined to the patient’s room and designed to replace hotel stays, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The 15 identical suites are an added amenity of the hospital’s new $450 million 650,000-square-foot facility. The rooms will feature a bed, desk, refrigerator, ceramic sink with tile backsplash and floor-to-ceiling windows. The prices for the suites are not yet set, but will reportedly range within the typical market rate of luxury hotel nightly fees, according to the Advocate.

“The suites are for people to stay with their loved ones until they’re better and discharged from the hospital,” said hospital spokesman Craig Andrews, according to the Advocate. “The whole concept of the way we designed this hospital is having the most restful experience and environment, which in turn helps patients heal faster and get back to their lives more quickly.”
