University of Chicago Medical Center. University of Chicago Medical Center’s Center for Care and Discovery, which opened in February 2013, houses the hospital’s neuroscience care offerings. The hospital is also home to one of the few fully equipped and staffed neurointensive care units in the U.S. A Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery, University of Chicago Medical Center has three attending spine surgeons who specialize in complex spine surgery. Additionally, the hospital was ranked in the top 50 in the nation for neurology and neurosurgery for 2015-16 by U.S. News & World Report.
