Ochsner Health System becomes Walmart center of excellence for joint replacement: 4 things to know

Walmart named New Orleans-based Ochsner Health System a national center of excellence for lower joint replacement surgery.

Four things to know:

1. Walmart associates will now have access to Ochsner Medical Center-Jefferson Highway for knee and hip replacement surgery.

2. As the 12th healthcare organization to receive the Walmart Center of Excellence for joint replacement surgery designation, Ochsner underwent a selective review process to demonstrate excellence in care, addressing the root cause of the patient's condition and providing outstanding patient experience.

3. Ochsner's orthopedics team has received previous recognition from Healthgrades, including America's 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement in 2018. The department offers robotically assisted joint replacements as well as other minimally invasive procedures.

4. Ochsner Health Network partnered with Walmart last year to launch the Ochsner Accountable Care Plan, a health insurance plan serving 6,600 Walmart and Sam's Club employees in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, La.
