NYU Langone will now operate out of Rothman’s three existing practice locations in the city and in Westchester, N.Y., according to a Jan. 7 press release.
The practices join more than 300 existing outpatient locations at NYU Langone. As part of the acquisition, NYU Langone Orthopedics will add 13 orthopedic leaders who specialize in sports medicine, rehabilitation medicine, and spine and joint care.
Rothman has worked closely with NYU Langone Orthopedics for the last three years, performing complex surgeries at NYU Langone hospitals, according to the release.
NYU Langone currently trains more orthopedic surgeons than any other institution in the U.S. and has more than 200 physicians who perform more than 34,000 orthopedic procedures annually.
“We’ve had a long-standing relationship with the team at Rothman Orthopaedics, and now that they have officially joined our faculty, we can bring the same great orthopedic care to even more people in the New York metro area,” Joseph D. Zuckerman, MD, the Walter A.L. Thompson professor of rrthopedic surgery and chair of the department of orthopedic surgery at NYU Langone, said in the release. “NYU Langone Orthopedics is a world-class leader in orthopedic care and academic medicine, and we are thrilled to be able to change more people’s lives for the better with this new venture.”
