Atrium Health joins state HHS, DOJ in opioid education campaign

Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health is partnering with several state agencies, among other stakeholders, to launch More Powerful NC — a public education campaign to raise awareness about opioid use disorder and spur action against the opioid epidemic.

Three things to know:

1. A bipartisan group of public and private partners launched the coalition April 4. Lead members include:

  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina
  • North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
  • NC Department of Justice
  • Atrium Health

2. The campaign will feature TV, radio, outdoor and digital advertisements urging community members to safely dispose of prescription medications and talk to their physicians about nonopioid alternatives for pain management.

3. Atrium Health will act as the campaign's lead healthcare partner by offering resources and guidance for people seeking treatment for opioid use disorder.
